Lindy Pickrell

Lindy Pickrell was born November 7, 1942 in Tipton to Daniel Christopher and Elsa (Johnston) Pickrell.

He was raised on a farm where he developed a love for animals and nature. He often told stories of his antics on the farm and his first horse “Sweetheart." Lindy graduated from Tipton High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma University.

In 1974, he met his next sweetheart, Jamie, where they were coworkers at a restaurant called “Jamie’s.” It was the beginning of a 45-year marriage and soon their only son, Aaron Kyle, was born in 1976.

Lindy died peacefully at his home in Carrboro, NC on May 22, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Jamie, his son, Aaron, daughter-in-law, Brandy, granddaughter Elena, his sister-in-law, Lila Johnston, several nieces and nephews, and a beloved pair of well-worn cowboy boots that he bought in Fort Worth in 1966.

Graveside services will be held at Tipton Municipal Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 11.
