Lena Louise Hamilton

November 17, 2022

Lena Louise Hamilton passed peacefully in her home Friday, November 4, 2022. She was the youngest child born to Martin Peterson and Lena Littlefield on April 20, 1936, in Snyder. Louise graduated from Snyder High School and attended college at Altus Junior College and Cameron University. She and Sam Hamilton married on June 19, 1959, and lived in Snyder raising their two daughters, Glenna and Gay.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister Mozella Miller and Sam Hamilton. Louise is survived by her brother, Jack Peterson, daughters Glenna Chandler and Gay Johnson, her (favorite) son-in-law Dave Johnson, grandchildren Aubrie and Cody Chandler, Tor, Eliot and Lars Johnson, three great-grandchildren Mason, Mylee and Nash Hines and her loyal canine companion, Leo. She also had a special relationship with her niece, XoeXan Miller and nephew, Guy Miller that was filled with fun, travel and lots of gambling.

Over the course of more than 30 years, Louise worked at Ft Sill as a civil service employee. During that time she managed many departments and created life-long friendships. When she retired, she moved to Southlake, Texas to help care for her grandchildren. While there, she was “Nanny” to a whole neighborhood of kids and a mother and best friend to all the young moms. She was loving, creative, resourceful, a great cook, thoughtful, kind, giving, the best cheerleader and an amazing seamstress. She loved and was well loved. We miss her greatly, but she intentionally mastered the art of creating memories and has left a remarkable legacy for her family.

In her last years, she was diagnosed with lung cancer which she never let slow her down. She had a life very well lived for over 86 years experiencing it to its absolute fullest, sharing her love with all she met and knew. She was fiercely independent until the very end with no regrets to speak of. She was happy. A celebration of Louise will take place at a future date.
