May 29, 2023

Jani Lee Janis Young, age 66, of Altus passed away on May 23, 2023, as a result of an automobile accident.

Jani was born April 24, 1957, in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, to parents Forrest Lee Janis and Joyce Peden Janis Ward.

Jani graduated from Snyder High School in 1975. She married Scott Young on September 2, 1990. Jani had a deep love for her husband, Scott, and has been his caretaker for the last 25 years. Their fondest memories together were their countless road trips on Scott’s motorcycle.

Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she always made sure they knew that Jani was the family historian, photographer, and had an amazing memory. She was a hard worker who had a passion for bingo and she adored the friends she made doing so. Jani was so full of energy that she almost never sat down. She used this energy for many things such as quilting and substituting at Navajo Public Schools, where she opened her heart and her door to anyone who needed it.

Most of all she had a selfless nature and treated anyone like her own. She was the person you always needed around even if you didn't realize it. She left an impact on every person she ever interacted with and will be severely missed.

Jani is survived by her husband Scott and three children: Kristi Young of Altus; Justin and Daana Young of Panama City Beach, Florida; Shannon Young Anderson and spouse Wil of Stillwater; also her grandchildren: Dakota Young of the home; Mason and Khloe of Panama City Beach, Florida; Ethan and Matti of Stillwater.
