Funeral service for James Wayne Head will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, in the First Baptist Church, Snyder, with Don Mann, Mountain Park, officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

James Wayne Head, 84, Mountain Park, on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Snyder. He was born October 20, 1938, in Clinton to James Lewis and Ollie Elizabeth (McBride) Head.
James graduated from Snyder High School and was a proud supporter of Cyclone athletics, especially basketball. James was a farmer, and through the years his passion was hunting and fishing. He was an animal lover you would often find helping to rescue or tend back to health a baby deer or wild turkeys. He loved his chickens, he loved his dog, “Big Dog”, and he loved Willie Nelson music, OU sports, red heads and never missed a show of the television series Yellowstone. He often said that the best elk meat was that which was “tenderized by a ball-peen hammer.” James will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Survivors include his two sons: Donnie Head and Karen and J.B. Head and Andrea; grandchildren: Savannah Smith and Matt, Chelsea Glover and Grant, Tristen Head and girlfriend Lilli, Tennille Head and fiancé Skylar Bautista, Ashley Woodall, Draven Smith;, great- granddaughter Makinze Smith, sister-in-law Vinita Head, daughter-in-law Noel Head, and special friends Teresa Mills and Sheila Reed. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Head and his wife Mary Hazel, his brother Theren Head, two sisters, Margaret Beason and her husband Leroy, and Gwen Killian and her husband Max, and wife Bonnie Romine.
