Celebration of Life for Arthur C. Andrade Jr., age 81, of Snyder, will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 918 E Street, Snyder, with Pastor Matt Hester officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home, Frederick. Arthur died early Monday morning, September 25, 2023, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Arthur C. Andrade Jr. was born July 1, 1942, in Fall River, Massachusetts to Arthur Sr. and Marion (Cabral) Andrade Rodrigues. When he was just two and a half years old, his father died January 15, 1945, in the famous Battle of the Bulge. Arthur graduated high school and attended trade school. In the late 1960's, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he realized his dream of becoming a professional musician. He worked his way up to being on the "first call" list at recording studios. He also played with the Grand Old Opry band. Chet Atkins was one of his favorite guitar players. In the 1990's, his genre changed to rock. He spent time at the River's Edge Studio, where he influenced the bands "SlipKnot", W.A.S.P., Billy Squire, and Marilyn Manson. After his move to Oklahoma, he played the Picking and Grinning Circuit started by Roy Clark.
Arthur was a Teamster for over 30 years in Massachusetts. He started as a driver delivering home heating oil and worked his way up to Class A Home Heating Oil Technician for Radiant Fuel.
Artie was a merry prankster with a keen sense of humor! He was a lover of music, family, and good food. One of his favorite places to eat was Fred's in Altus. He loved model trains. Steam engines were his favorite and he was a card-carrying member of the New England Model Railroad Association. He also enjoyed taking an excursion on a train when he could. In Snyder, he was the savior of cats. About the only thing that he did not like was cheese. It was alright as long as he didn't see it! Artie attended and enjoyed the fellowship of the First United Methodist Church of Snyder.
He is survived by his like-a-daughter, Mary Viveiros; his nephew whom he raised, Joseph "Joey" Cordeiro; and granddaughter, Hope Viveiros, all of Snyder. He is also survived by family in Massachusetts, his sister, Veronica Sullivan, and her son, Bruce Sullivan; stepbrothers, Joseph Rodrigues, and Roger Rodrigues; nieces and nephews, Glenda Caldwell and her husband, Hugh, Judy LaRachelle and her husband, Chris.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Cordeiro; and stepbrother, Billy Rodrigues.
He was a much-loved uncle and friend to all. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please honor him with memorials to his favorite causes: St Jude Children's Hospital, ASPCA, or Jimmy Jack Whitaker Foundation, in loving memory of Arthur C. Andrade Jr.
