Nelson Leon Davis

Funeral service for Nelson Leon Davis, Roosevelt, was Monday, January 8, 2024, at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Hobart. Interment was at Green Valley Cemetery, Mountain View, under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home. Mr. Davis died January 4, 2024.

Nelson was born December 15, 1933. He was the sixth of eight children that lived and worked on the family farm south of Roosevelt. He attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School where he met the love of his life, Olene Reid. They both attended Oklahoma State University for one year before they married on June 25, 1953. To this union were born three children: Suzanne, Reid and Brad.

Nelson could do anything he set his mind to. He raised sheep and dairy cows, he farmed, ran a gravel pit. He was a mechanic, and a master carpenter turning mesquite wood into beautiful works of art. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond measure and was so proud of each of them.

Nelson is survived by his daughter, Suzanne and Keith Bonham, his son, Nelson Reid and Cherrel, and daughter in law, Mallory Davis; two sisters, Patsy Fleming of Abilene, Texas and Nancy and Elbert McNutt of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Justin Bonham and Tara, Kress, Texas, Brant and Leah Bonham of Fairview, Adam Davis and Erica of Norman, Leslea and Mike Hixson, of Hobart, Dierra and Trapper Heglin of Hobart. Chanan and Bailey Davis of Roosevelt, Bryson and Shelby Davis of Cooperton; great-grandchildren: Bailey Bonham, Chase Bonham, Trace Bonham, Layla Bonham, Jessi Davis, Mazie Davis, Max Davis, Polly Tacker, Luke Tacker, Logan Tacker, Maggie Tacker, Addie Heglin, Thatcher Heglin, Sterling Davis, Hix Davis, Hattie Davis, and Tinley Davis and a host of extended family and dear friends, including Peggy Gilpatrick.

Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Olene, son Brad Davis, parents Walter and Addie Davis, three brothers, Blaine, Dayrold, and Stanley, two sisters, Lois Higgenbothan and Mary Dee Manaugh.
