June 27, 2024

Thomas George Lagaly passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Snyder, Oklahoma.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Thomas George Lagaly was born October 31, 1955, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to James Frank and Lois Helen (Biller) Lagaly. He was raised on a dairy farm in Union City, Oklahoma, where he milked cows for several years when he was young and on weekends while in college. After college, he stayed at the farm for several years helping his parents with milking and a variety of other chores on weekends and after work.

Tom graduated from high school in 1973 and attended El Reno Junior College and later Central State University where he met his college roommate and lifetime friend, Mike Ast. Tom has enjoyed getting back together these last few years with his college friends. Tom graduated in 1977 with a degree in Marketing and began working at Oklahoma Dairyman’s Federal Credit Union, eventually becoming the credit union manager. Tom made many good memories while at the Credit Union and A.M.P.I., including meeting his wife and all of the Chinese lunches where he was the only male out of a group of women. He then accepted a job at Bank of the Wichitas (All America Bank now) and worked there as a loan officer / Vice-President for twenty-seven years before retiring in 2019 due to health reasons. Tom was special and was loved everywhere he worked.

Early in his bank career Tom volunteered many hours with the Rotary Club working several philanthropic projects, including annual bike races to Tom Steed Lake which promoted Snyder as well as a lot of the Christmas decorating at City Park in Snyder. Also, as a member of First United Methodist Church he enjoyed working activities such as the men’s Ground Hog Suppers. Tom also volunteered for several years as a board member of Snyder Senior Citizens and Recap of Hobart, Oklahoma.

In his younger years, Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed attending estate auctions where he made many more friends. Tom liked to take day trips to small towns in Southwest Oklahoma to shop at antique and resale stores, eat out, and look at history in old buildings.

Family was very important to Tom! He enjoyed many trips to Kansas with his uncles. He loved family reunions, cousins’ Christmas parties at his sister’s, and family times at the farm, including several fish fries sharing all the fish he caught.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank Lagaly and Lois Helen Biller Lagaly, and a brother David Lagaly.

Tom is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Connie Lynn Lagaly; his brother Mike Lagaly and wife Rebecca; sister Joyce Wallace and husband Ben; sister-in-law Gina Lagaly; brother Mark Lagaly and wife Kate; four sisters-in-law: Debbie Long, Tammy Wolf and husband Dan; Cindy Buckley, and Nancy Buckley; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends including his casino buddies, John Jackson and Jeff Thompson. He will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, Tom’s wish was for any donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
