Herwannah Sellers
Funeral service for Herwannah Bussanmas Jones Sellers will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Indiahoma United Methodist Church, Indiahoma, OK, with Pastor Scott Patton of Cache, OK and Retired Pastor Daryl Perry of Indiahoma, officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery south of Indiahoma, under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Herwannah Bussanmas Jones Sellers, 90, of Indiahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Snyder. She was born August 5, 1933, in Indiahoma to Otto August and Willie Jewell (Jett) Bussanmas. Growing up in Indiahoma, Herwannah graduated from Indiahoma High School in 1951.
Herwannah married Kenneth “Rusty” Jones on May 19, 1951, in Lawton, OK. They briefly lived in Waco, Texas, while Rusty served in the Air Force before returning to Indiahoma in 1954. Herwannah was a devoted stay-at-home mom until her children were grown. She then worked as a seamstress at home before taking jobs at Haggar Clothing in Lawton, Kellwoods in Frederick, OK and later as a stainer and assembler at Centra Leather. Herwannah attended Great Plains Vo-Tech until Rusty was diagnosed with cancer. Rusty passed away from cancer on September 15, 1994.
In 1996, Herwannah married J.C. Sellers. Together, they worked in the cattle business, an endeavor new to Herwannah, which she found thoroughly enjoyable. J.C. passed away on February 29, 2008.
Herwannah was deeply involved in her church from a young age. She joined the Methodist Church and was baptized in 1941. In 1954, she became a Sunday School teacher and contributed to Vacation Bible School for several years. Her dedication to her children's religious education led her to assist with Vacation Bible Schools at various churches in town.
In addition to her church activities, Herwannah enjoyed painting, finding joy and fulfillment in her artistic pursuits.
Herwannah's life was characterized by her dedication to family, faith, and hard work. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
Herwannah is survived by her children, Kenneth and Joanne Jones, Denise Jones and Pat Bell, Maurice and Anna Jones, and Danny and Shauna Jones, grandchildren, Rachel Webster, Brad Jones, Shannon Crist, Amanda Holland and husband Derrick, Ashlee Beasley and husband Tyler, Kellie Nelson and husband Tony, Keith Jones, Mattie Klein and husband Zane, step-grandchildren, Tony Hale, Joni Bruce, Scotty Howard, Ryan Howard, and Jennifer Howard, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great grandchildren, and her dog, Sadie.
Herwannah was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, brother, Maurice Herman Bussanmas and his wife Minnie Sue Bussanmas Bridges, an infant brother, Otto Anthony Bussanmas, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Stuckey.
