James D. Daubenspeck
November 07, 2024
Funeral services for James D. Daubenspeck were Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder Chapel with Pat Peters of Oklahoma City, and Ryan Driskill, of Clinton, officiating.
Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder.
James Douglas Daubenspeck was born to Albert Pool Daubenspeck and Edith Marie (Spillman) Daubenspeck on September 19, 1937. He passed from this life peacefully in his sleep in the arms of his children on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 87.
James graduated from high school in 1955 from Cache, and immediately joined the Air Force serving four years and was honorably discharged as an airplane electrician. He married Marthella Slatten in 1960 and from this union were born two children: James Albert Daubenspeck and Winona Marie (Daubenspeck) Brown.
James attended the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas, and was in the mission field and preached the gospel for ten years. His next 30 years were spent as a mechanical contractor in the heating and air-conditioning trade where he prided himself with knowing he could get any air conditioner running temporarily no matter what was wrong with it until he could order the parts to “Fix-It”. He understood the phrase… “little job’s a big job”.
“Are you with me?”
He loved to ride his motorcycles and somewhere in the middle of his HVAC career he started riding and taking trips several times a year as a means to get away and experience nature. This proved to be a long-lasting love that led him from the east coast to as far west as Arizona, El Paso, Texas to Yellowstone. He loved to ride, camp, fish and cook in his camp. Many times, eating the fish he caught. He also loved to include his family in some of his many bike journeys. If you knew James, you know that everything he set out to do was purposeful and well planned right down to how he got all his equipment loaded on his bike.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all three sisters: Laverne Haynes, Wanda Marshall and Rita Garrett.
He is survived by his son, James and wife Jennifer, daughter, Winona and husband Chris. Five grandchildren: Garett, Mason, Ashley, Trevor, and Tylor along with 12 great grandchildren: Greelie, Canyon, Wrigley, Harper, Braylee, Easton, Maddon, Brixton, Wren, Brooks, Cooper and Luke.
