Dewane Allen Baskett
April 09, 2025

Funeral services for Dewane Allen Baskett were April 5, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Snyder with Danny Jones of Hobart officiating.
Burial was in the Gotebo Cemetery under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Dewane Allen Baskett, 82, of Snyder, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at his home in Snyder.
Dewane was born on March 3, 1943, in Hobart, Oklahoma to Luther Robert and Ruby Louise (Jones) Baskett.
He grew up in the Gotebo, Saddle Mountain and Cooperton Valley communities graduating high school at Cooperton Valley High School. After graduation he moved to Oklahoma City and worked for OG&E Electric for two years and he also signed up for the Army National Guard at Fort Sill, and served for six years. He always said that it was the best time he ever had even though most thought otherwise. He valued all he learned during his service.
Dewane moved back to Southwest Oklahoma and lived in Cooperton where he found his passion for driving trucks. He spent over 50 years behind the wheel of an eighteen-wheeler. He did not see truck driving as a job but as his hobby, having logged over a million miles in his career. On road trips he would share about all the places he had hauled rock to and the projects his loads helped build. It was during this time that he moved to the Snyder community to build his home, which was one of his prized accomplishments as was obvious by the meticulous care he took of his home and grounds. This is where he spent the last 46 years of his life. Those that knew Dewane knew that the only thing he loved more than the road was his family. He had a heart as big as all the road and was known for giving his advice because he cared. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Dewane is survived by his brother, Marvin D. Baskett and wife Gingy; three sisters: Gwendolyn E. Halverson, Coleta Sue Bowen, and Donna G. Beyers; ten nephews: Ronald Dean Baskett, Larry Don Baskett, Marvin Mitchell Baskett, Robert Howard Halverson, Eric Kirk Halverson, Mark Devon Bowen, Michael Darren Bowen, and Grant Lynwood Beyers; one niece, Iva Denise McAskill and their spouses. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald Larry Baskett, three brothers-in-law, Roger Halverson, Hollie C. Bowen and George L. Beyers, III and one sister-in-law, Iva Dell Baskett.
